a practical to do list

i've found myself with too much time on my hands. i only work three days a week, and that's only from 8 am to 2 pm. we are now in our own apartment which gives me lots of space to make a mess of. having time on my hands kind of freaks me out, i've never had that before. however, i have had a long list of crafty projects and diy things i have been wanting to try for a very long time and just haven't had the time to do. Now that I have a scary amount of time...here is a list of things i will hopefully accomplish.

1. dye yarn. i started crocheting an afghan for my mom and i think it would be extra special if i dyed the yarn myself. it seems easy enough and i know my way around fibers pretty well. i also have a nice big half-covered deck to use. and my very own kitchen.

autumn dyes: hawthorn berries, alder cones, acorns and dry eucalyptus leaves

mushroom dying! there are so many mushrooms around here right now.

2. work on my etsy. i have more space to take pictures and i think my bedroom gets pretty good light for photos. i found out that the goodwill by myself is full of awesome household items so maybe i will scour it and see what i can find.

3. go climbing more!!!! or yoga. or something. physical activity. my apartment is in a very walkable place which is awesome. need physical activity. it makes the 9 months of grey significantly less depressing.

this is not even close to what i look like climbing. more indoors, more flailing, less cute.

4. read more books. i am in the middle of two tom robbins books. while searching for a picture for this, i found out they made even cowgirls get the blues into a movie in the 90s and it looks fantastically horrible. now i have to finish the book so i can read it.

5. acquire juicer. make juice forever. whole foods' just beet it juice is my favorite thing right now but i cannot afford $4 juice every day, as much as i love to pretend i am a suburban mom.

this lil recipe seems to be pretty close to it but with added ginger. i love ginger. i am also perpetually slowly getting sick in the winter so that should help.

6. add animals to all my shoes.

7. shelves! we need them so bad.

8. sew curtains for our kitchen and bedroom windows. buy curtains for the living room because they are too big and i just want white anyway. i have my eye on this fabric from ikea:

hopefully i can accomplish these easy things pretty quickly. i'm gonna do a bunch of dyeing research today and hopefully start gathering things today or tomorrow! cabbage dye sounds the prettiest. also, i figured that if i crochet 2 squares a day i can have the blanket done by halloween. three a day and i can be done before that. only 60ish to go!
